Soulseek is a P2P file sharing program that is mainly used to exchange music not available in other systems.
Soulseek allows its users to share all kinds of files via online communities formed in chat rooms. Although a global search function is included, the chat rooms are ordered by style and genre and allow users to share files that are not normally available on the web while at the same time creating personal links. Another feature of the system is the Wishlist which gives the option to search in depth independently from “manual” searches.
Some of its characteristics are:
-The ability to download entire folders instead of only individual files
-The ability to search for files within a chatroom (generally more effective than a global search of the entire web)
-A username can be configured, which is then visible to all chatroom members.
-Buddy lists can be set up to give specific members download rights.
-Global privileges can be set up to allow certain users download priority. These users jump directly to the top of download
queues.
